Best Pasta Place in Jakarta

For me, one of the hardest questions to answer is perhaps: "What is your favorite dish?". I’m an omnivore who loves all things food (except wasabi and animal intestines—ew!). So if I’m being serious, I can't just answer with a simple "noodle" or "sushi". I genuinely think that question deserves more critical thinking and rumination.

As of now, sadly, I still can’t decide what my favorite dish is. But if you ask me about my comfort food, I can confidently give you an answer. “I have this genuine love for pasta,” I'll say, because:

a) pasta is delicious;

b) pasta is the best; and

c) nothing goes wrong with pasta.

While I have quite a few pasta places in mind, one restaurant stands out above the rest: Mamma Rosy. Located in Kemang, South Jakarta, this Italian-owned gem is all about homemade goodness. When you order, you get to pick your pasta type and the sauce to go with it (I'll link the menu here). 

I went there with my friends two months ago, and my experience was overall eccellente.

Dish #1 - Ravioli Beef with Funghi Sauce

I love ravioli. I love funghi (but only in dishes). Blend them, and you get a plate of Ravioli Beef with Funghi Sauce that tastes absolutely amazing. It left me and my friends wanting more... and more... and more...

Dish #2 - Spaghetti with Saffron & Bacon Sauce

Let's take a moment to appreciate the homemade texture of this spaghetti, which even an untrained eye can spot in the photo. Eating it felt like having a fresh, comforting meal made from scratch in a quiet, green countryside far away.

That may sound dramatic, but you know me.

Dish #3 - Golosa Pizza

I won't lie—I've had better pizzas before. This one was slightly too dry for my liking.

But good news: the truffle and cheese topping combo was a win. I still liked it overall.

Dish #4 - Tiramisu

Soft, yummy, and classic. If you're like me and my friends and always crave for a good ol' tiramisu for dessert, don't skip this one.
