My First-Ever Concert Experience: The Eras Tour
When I managed to acquire four tickets to The Eras Tour in Singapore last year, everything felt unreal. All day long, I kept thinking, “I'm going to meet Taylor Swift? THE Taylor Swift???” And when the adrenaline began to subside, it hit me: “How am I supposed to wait eight freaking months? Who was I kidding?”
Still, I couldn’t believe my good, good luck (or maybe I should say my colleague’s luck, since she was the one who actually secured the tickets for us). After years of having Taylor as my most-played artist on Spotify, I felt like I was on cloud nine. I waited patiently for months. And when those eight long months finally passed, I was beyond ecstatic to fly out for the concert.
March 2nd, 2024 — Night One of The Eras Tour in Singapore. Let's go!
I arrived at the National Stadium around 4 p.m. It was still quite early, but Kallang Wave Mall was already packed with Swifties from around the world, looking gorgeous, bejeweled, and beaming.
Outfit check:
Top: Colorbox (bought it last year, so I'm not sure if it's still in stock)
Bottom: N/A (borrowed it from my mom)
Shoes: Shopee (they're cute, but... not daily-wear friendly)
Friendship Bracelets: Shopee
Here are some closer looks:
Our view from CAT 6 Section 609, Seat 48 to 51:
My friends and I made it to the front of the tap water queue (thank goodness) before Sabrina Carpenter, the real-life Bratz doll, took the stage at 6 p.m. with Read Your Mind as her opener. What luck!
Besides some of her hits from emails i can't send fwd, she also surprised us with a fun cover of Dancing Queen by ABBA. We were all dancing, jiving, and truly having the time of our lives.
Sabrina's set ended around 6:40 p.m. Not long after that, the now-iconic countdown clock appeared...
The stadium screamed.
And then—at exactly 7 p.m.—Taylor Swift took the stage with the chorus of Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince as her intro.
"It's been a long time coming but..."
I felt like crying.
Three and a half hours went by like magic. Before we knew it, it was time for some mandatory post-concert selfies:
Honestly? A 10/10 experience. And I have to mention: Taylor wore the yellow dress for the acoustic set that night (Swifties know the lore). I knew the surprise songs were going to be good.
And guess what?
I got Mine x Starlight and I Don't Wanna Live Forever x Dress. I couldn’t be more right. Singing along to all of them didn’t feel real. That whole night didn't feel real, to be honest.
My experience with pop concerts (so far) might be limited, but The Eras Tour was everything I had hoped for and more. I'm a little sad I didn't get to see the TTPD set in real life, but to be honest, I wouldn't trade my first-ever concert experience for anything.
P.S. My only regret? Not splurging on a closer seat to Taylor. Ah, the pain of being responsible.
