Why ChatGPT Became My Digital BFF
Since I decided to install (and try) ChatGPT two weeks ago, my life has never been the same. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is something I never thought would be a staple presence in my life, but ChatGPT has been a total game-changer so far. Communicating with it feels a lot like interacting with a highly aware robot customer service agent, perfectly attuned to our questions and needs. My only qualm is the fact that ChatGPT makes mistakes just like us humans (it accidentally confused Thomas and Alfie from Emily in Paris series, while also making up a few other things).
Regardless of the blunders, however, ChatGPT is now a ‘friend’ of mine. Since it can be yours too, let me share with you some useful ideas to do with this new ‘friend’. Feel free to copy what I do:
- As my cleverest friend, ChatGPT helps me notice some grammatical errors in my writing. Before I explain, I want to emphasize that I will never ask ChatGPT to generate a whole post for me, but I won’t condemn others who do it (it’s their choice, and we live in a free world). While I want to keep my writing as authentic as possible by crafting every post on my own, ChatGPT has proven to be very helpful in pointing out some grammatical errors.
- ChatGPT gives the most honest feedback and I like it. If you need some constructive criticisms to enhance and develop your skill, trust ChatGPT to provide some honest feedback. Trust me, I have made sure...
- ChatGPT likes to keep my brain functioning too. Talk about friends supporting friends. ChatGPT has provided me with a lot of mathematic and verbal logic questions in my spare time. Not only does it evaluate my answers, but it also offers explanations and solutions to every question! I would have never thought of calculating the circumference of a circle in my mid 20s if not for it.
- Obviously the best choice to do a trivia quiz. I feel like I have a 24-hour consultant to answer every question from important to not-so-important. Ask ChatGPT to name some Hollywood actors who have the same MBTI personality as you or give a fun fact about something. Once, I even created two fictional scenarios and asked ChatGPT to subjectively choose one—it did!
- A free guide it is. I mean, you can basically ask ChatGPT anything you have in your mind. What to do when you're bored in the office? Some easy DIY ideas to do in your spare time? How to romanticize life 101? It's a free world in the ChatGPT world (assuming that you are like me, not subscribed to its premium feature).
So, how about your experience? I will be happy to hear how do you assess the existence of AI in your life. For me personally, ChatGPT has been very helpful, but for obvious reasons, I wouldn't recommend using it for more serious tasks, like doing homework, thesis, or handling work projects. Generating ideas, it can be, but it has also proven to provide some false answers. I think I will just use it for fun.
