How I Won a Samsung Z Flip 6 (and Almost Didn’t Use It!)

Almost two months ago, I checked my email and found out that I was among the few who won a food-photo contest on an online food app. I might not be first on the leaderboard, but yours truly here won a brand new Samsung Z Flip 6—AAA! I couldn’t be more stoked—AAA!

If you’re wondering why it took me this long to share the good news, it’s because I wasn’t sure if I should use the phone myself. I won’t lie—I was really tempted. But my mom and sister didn’t think it was a great idea. They argued that I was being wasteful for even thinking of using it.

That’s why I finally put up an ad on a few marketplaces in an attempt to sell it. And there went my two failed attempts at selling the phone…

Act #1. The first experience didn’t seem like a failure at all at first. Everything seemed so smooth sailing—the buyer and I had promised to meet after work at a mall, after she asked me to check the phone’s warranty and other details at a Samsung center.

However, on the promised date, she just magically disappeared. Just like Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage when the clock struck the hour—or a disappearing act with a big, colorful ‘Poof!’. Was she perhaps the freaking fairy godmother? Well, we will never know.

Act #2. If the first experience had seemed like a dream come true, the second one was doomed from the start. When I decided to offer the phone to this one guy, he kind of… rushed me to meet as fast as possible. He kept switching the venue, not wanting to meet in the mall that I picked, so I became a little wary. I decided to apologize and cancel the offer. Thankfully, he accepted my decision.

After those two failed experiences, I stopped trying to sell the phone. It made me feel a little guilty at first, since my mom kept pushing me behind the scenes, but I realized I should’ve been more decisive from the start! If I thought using the phone was the best choice, I should have been firmer. Blessing doesn’t always mean money, after all. It can come in the form of a very cool phone.

After telling my mom what I had decided upon, I felt more relieved.

The first thing I did after that was buy some stuff for my phone:

A pink silicone candy case. I chose this case because the shop offered instant delivery (because I needed it quickly) with no additional cost whatsoever (I’m a sucker for free delivery, y’all). But the ring holder on the back of the case turned out to be very useful! I feel like it helps me be more careful with a flip phone.

A ring camera lens protector. I ended up not using this because the phone case was thick enough to protect the camera.

A Gennext tempered glass. Again, I chose this tempered glass because I needed it quickly, and the shop offered instant delivery with no additional cost. My attempt to put it on top of my back cover was a chaotic one, though! I forgot that I have astigmatism, so the tempered glass was glued a little… crooked (‘a little’ is an understatement, but let’s leave it at that). My boyfriend was so amused by how it turned out that he took it off and quickly put it back on.

Well, you might ask: what about an actual review of the phone instead of all this background info that only leads to me finally using it? I'll write more about it after I get more used to it. In the meantime, I'll just keep flippin' and flippin' and flippin'.

P.S. Just kidding. I don’t even flip it that much for fear of breaking it.
