December at the Movies (Apparently I’m a Cinema Girl Now)
As I’ve said before, my boyfriend is a huge movie nerd. And I think—I think—it’s starting to rub off on me… because what do you mean I was the one who got genuinely excited to go to the cinema ‘tis the season?
So, we watched four movies this month, and honestly? All of them were great in their own ways. So here’s a short wrap-up of each one, because I’m clearly very excited about making a mini cinema recap:
My take: One of the best local movies I’ve ever watched. If Agak Laen 1 was funny, this one is 100% more hilarious! It strikes a really good balance between humor, sadness, and plot twists. I would absolutely watch Agak Laen 3 if they ever make it.
My boyfriend’s take: A fun movie, but also pretty heavy. Lots of emotional moments—happy and sad. And now I don’t know anymore.
My take: I still prefer the first movie, but this one is a solid animated film that I genuinely enjoyed. Also, major thanks to my boyfriend for watching it with me even though he hadn’t seen the first one yet.
My boyfriend’s take: I’ve never seen the first movie, but I really liked this one. So yeah—smaaash! I like how they portray the animals, and I’m quite excited about the new character.
My take: I’ve talked about this one here already. Not the best movie ever, but I love SpongeBob, and this filled me with nostalgia. I was definitely entertained.
My boyfriend’s take: Yellow. (Editor’s note: … Okay.)
My take: I’ve also talked about this one here, so just go read that post (#shamlessselfpromo). I’ve explained the entire lore behind my fear of the Anaconda franchise.
My boyfriend’s take: Exciting!!! It’s a fun movie. Even if you haven’t watched the previous ones, you’ll still enjoy it. Not the best, but definitely entertaining.
