Watt Matters: A Hairdryer that Could

Fun fact! In Indonesia, there’s a type of residence called ‘kos-kosan’. More like a boarding house than a studio apartment, it’s a rented room that usually consists of a bed, a wardrobe, and—if you’re lucky—a desk.

For the past six years or so, I’ve been living in a kos-kosan in Jakarta. My room, if I’m being honest, is relatively small—around 3x4 meters, if I recall correctly—but it’s neat and comfortable with a bus stop nearby. With that said, I can get to the office easily with no worries whatsoever about transportation. The bus stop is less than a 10-minute walk away.

But there is nothing perfect in this world—and my kos-kosan certainly isn’t. With rooms this size, each one comes with a limited electrical capacity of 1300 watts. In theory, it should be enough. In reality, it’s obviously a challenge for a long-haired girl like me, since my 400-watt hairdryer needs an hour and a half to do its job. Well.

Earlier this month, I decided that enough was enough. I did some research and narrowed down my options to a few hairdryers with higher wattage. Encouraged by a salesperson at a Glam On outlet, I finally chose the 800-watt hairdryer from Tescom.

And it’s SO life-changing!!!

One of my best purchases of 2025!!!

Goodbye, my-old-hairdryer-with-no-ion. Goodbye, staying-up-late-because-my-hair-is-still-wet. Now it only takes less than half an hour to blow-dry my hair. And I can still use it without turning off the air conditioner or unplugging any chargers on my desk. My earlier concerns? Totally groundless. I’m so, so, so grateful to have found this ionic hairdryer from Tescom.

P.S. This is not a paid promotion. I genuinely feel this way about my new hairdryer, so I’m spreading the word for the world (and all kos-kosan dwellers) to hear.
