My Workout Comeback Was Awkward (But Sweaty-Fun!)
Last night, I was so proud of myself for not only starting to work out again, but also stepping out of my comfort zone!
Since the only exercise I had done these past months was walking (um, mind you, I count my commute to the office), I finally tried a real workout class yesterday. It wasn’t exactly a whim—I had been researching classes to take these past few weeks. “Should I take gym classes?” I wondered. “I’m not sure it’s worth it to have a membership and only go there twice a week for the class.”
So I decided to try a less expensive fitness studio nearby. Alone. I booked my first trial session through ClassPass and opted for a K-Pop cardio class. (Honestly, I didn’t know why I chose it. I don’t even listen to K-Pop. But something told me I should try it, so I just gave in to the urge.)
I’m so happy to report that my instinct turned out right. The instructor told us it was going to be more cardio and less dance, so the one-hour class was sweaty but fun!
Just so you don’t assume I’m a pro: I was overwhelmed at first by the cardio moves I wasn’t familiar with, but I tried my best to follow along. Since it had been sooo long since I last worked out, I might (or might not) have been a little out of breath between songs.
(I’m also almost sure that some moves made me look awkward as hell.)
Still, I felt so recharged and refreshed afterward. I knew I wanted more.
I’m now thinking of enrolling in its annual membership since the studio also offers other fitness classes. I’ll get back to you when it’s all official—in the meantime, let’s get back to the studio, girls!
