The Day I Asked for Volume (and Loved It)
Confession time: While I’ve been a skincare enthusiast for a few years, I never gave the same attention to my hair. In my mind, my big, puffy hair was just the default—I couldn’t change what I was born with. That’s why every time I got a haircut, I asked the hairdresser to make it look less puffy. “The hairstyle is whatever. Just make it look less puffy, please,” I would say.
But everything changed when I did some research a few weeks ago. I now know what actually causes hair puffiness: a mix of dryness and humidity (not shocking, but suddenly there are more layers to Lady Gaga’s Born This Way).Since then, I’ve been trying new haircare products, and I’m happy to report that my hair now falls nicely into place.
(Review coming soon—I still need more time to let the products fully do their thing. Regardless, I’m a happy, satisfied, and grateful customer!)
But solving that problem, of course, created a new one. Now that my hair looks 99% less puffy, my old haircut doesn’t suit me anymore. So yesterday, I went to my hairdresser and told him I wanted a new cut.
I showed him this TikTok video for reference and asked for more volume. He cut soft layers, and this is how my hair turned out:
I’m loving how it looks right now! And since I just redyed it with Liese’s Chestnut Brown hair color foam a few weeks ago, I feel the perfect amount of confidence already (because too much confidence is never a good thing, right?!).
I know I was born this way—I just like to elevate this version. So, same DNA, just better hair.
Hair products rock!!!
P.S. Consider this my hair era—Chromatica, but make it soft layers!!!
