Mini Reviews From My Current Movie Obsession

Now that my boyfriend has officially converted me into a movie lover, I sincerely hope good movies continue to be made all around the world.

I LOVE MOVIES.

Honestly, I think I should make a shirt with those words embroidered in a big-ass font on the front.

To celebrate my newfound love for films, here are my thoughts on the three movies I watched (kind of) recently:

A film with an almost three-hour runtime…

I would say it’s great. The world-building is amazing, the concept feels fresh, bla bla bla. But while my boyfriend seemed to absolutely love it, the movie didn’t capture me quite as much as it captured him.

Sure, Ryan Gosling was perfect for the role. But in my opinion, the plot dragged a little too much at times. Still, if you love sci-fi, I would say this movie is a must-watch. The space visuals are incredible, and the performances are definitely top-notch.

I’ll be frank here: I didn’t watch the first Mortal Kombat movie, so I went in with absolutely no expectations. But what started as an extremely good deed—me accompanying my boyfriend, who’s a huge fan of the franchise—ended up converting me too.

Wow. I love Kitana now. What a badass. And the fast-paced plot genuinely kept me on my toes.

I just can’t handle the gore, though. I kept closing my eyes every time the fight scenes started.

If you had told me before that I would bawl my eyes out over a murder-mystery movie about sheep, I would have told you to stop joking and go watch Shaun the Sheep instead…

Because I never expected a sheep movie to be THIS emotional. Hello???

If you haven’t watched it yet, please do! The Sheep Detectives is charming, funny, but also deeply touching. It might honestly be the best movie I’ve watched in 2025 so far… if I may say so.
