When Life Gives You a Sore Throat, Mom Gives You Fruit

Last weekend, I went back to my parents’ house. What was supposed to be a fun weekend, however, fell apart because I got sick. My throat was sore, and my whole body ached. Ugh, the usual.

Since I wasn’t feeling well, our plan to eat at our favorite meatball stall got canceled. Instead, my mom made us pee cam kee with a ton of garlic—so appetizing! She also insisted I eat a lot of fruit. Here’s the fruit lineup my mom pushed on me:

Pear

Definitely not my favorite, but I don’t hate it either. I powered through a whole pear because I was sick and desperate to feel better as fast as possible.

Coconut

On Sunday morning, my mom made me drink coconut water and eat its meat, and my throat felt so refreshed afterward! I used to hate coconut with a passion (for no reason at all), but now I actually love it!

Durian

Well, this one was definitely not forced. I love durian so, so, so much. So when my mom said she had some stock of durian monthong, I couldn’t say no. While I usually prefer my durian a little bitter, the sweetness and creaminess of this one melted perfectly in my mouth. Perfection.

P.S. I only ate this when I was feeling better already. I’m not crazy.
